One flat tier. No upsells, no add-ons, no hidden charges. 14-day free trial. Cancel anytime through your Apple ID.
The daily-driver basics, free for as long as you keep the app installed.
Everything in the toolkit. Including the Rhythm Reader and the AI features.
Comparable clinical apps charge 6× to 8× more. We charge less because we built the app to be used — not to be a corporate procurement line item.
The legacy nurse apps are priced for hospital-system contracts and individual nurses paying out of pocket got the leftovers. RN PocketPal flips that. Individual nurses are the customer, not an afterthought.
Our biggest expense is keeping the AI features running on-device — not editorial committees, not EHR integration sales teams, not stock photography. That's why we can charge a quarter of what the legacy publishers charge and still build something better.
Free is a real tool, not a crippled trial — install it on day one and use it forever. Pro is for nurses who want the AI features and the full toolkit.

Travel-nurse recruiters, verified union officers, nursing schools, and brands serving nurses each have their own account type — separate from the consumer Pocketpal Pro tier above.
Why outside Apple's App Store billing. All four business-account types qualify for App Store Guideline 3.1.5(a)'s recruitment-services + physical-goods + accreditation-related exemption. We bill the card on file directly via Stripe — that means no Apple 30% cut on these accounts. Different economics than the consumer Pocketpal Pro tier above.
Cancel anytime. Every account type cancels through its account-management screen in the iOS app, in one tap. No hidden retention dialogs, no win-back hoops, no cooldown that retains charges. Same posture as the consumer Pro tier.
Verification, not just claim. Employer accounts pass EIN + recruiter-ID review before posting; union accounts pass LM-2 + manual moderator review; school accounts pass IPEDS + accreditation-body review (ACEN / CCNE / ABNS). The verification gate is the whole point — it's why nurses trust the postings on the marketplace, the directory in School Finder, and the messages from union accounts.
Everything Apple's standard subscription policy covers, applied to RN PocketPal Pro.
Yes — Pro starts with a 14-day free trial. No charge during the trial window; you can cancel before day 14 and never be billed.
The trial converts automatically to a paid subscription on day 15 unless you cancel, which is the standard Apple subscription pattern. You can monitor the trial countdown in your Apple ID's Subscriptions list.
Cancellation happens through your Apple ID, not through us. Settings → your name → Subscriptions → RN PocketPal → Cancel. You'll keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period.
This is required by Apple — every iOS subscription cancels through the same path. We can't unsubscribe you on our end and we're not allowed to ask you why you're leaving (Apple App Store Guidelines 3.1.2(a)). No "are you sure?" dark-pattern dialogs, no win-back offers.
Refunds are issued by Apple, also not by us. Settings → your name → Media & Purchases → View Account → Purchase History → Report a Problem, or visit reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple's standard refund policy applies.
If something's broken in the app, email support@rnpocketpal.com first — we'll usually get a fix out faster than the refund window.
Pro is per-individual-nurse, per-Apple-ID. Each nurse subscribes separately under their own iCloud account. Family Sharing is intentionally disabled — RN PocketPal is a professional tool, not a household subscription.
Hospital-wide or system-wide licensing isn't part of v1. If your facility wants to provide Pro to a unit or department, email support@rnpocketpal.com — we have a roadmap item for institutional licensing in v2.
You'll need an Employer account: $20/month for the dashboard + EEOC-compliance lint, plus $2 per job posting. Sign up via Profile → Become an Employer in the iOS app. We verify your EIN + recruiter ID before any posting goes live.
Billing is handled outside Apple's App Store via Stripe — recruitment services are exempt from IAP per Apple Guideline 3.1.5(a), so 100% of your fee (minus Stripe's processing fee) reaches us instead of Apple's 30% cut.
Verified union leaders get a Union leader account: $20/month flat, no per-post fees ever. That covers messaging your members, posting rallies + meetings, running anonymous strike-authorization + ratification polls, and the steward inbox.
Verification goes through LM-2 (federal Office of Labor-Management Standards filings) plus a manual moderator review. We don't put union-officer privileges behind a self-attest button — too much trust riding on it.
Schools get a School account: $100/month flat, all-inclusive. That gets you a verified listing in the in-app School Finder directory (alongside our curated dataset of US + Canadian nursing programs), a public business profile, and free posting for events, open-house dates, scrubs orders, items, and program announcements — no per-listing fees ever.
Verification goes through IPEDS UnitID lookup plus your accrediting body (ACEN, CCNE, ABNS, or other) plus a manual moderator review. The directory is high-trust by design — students rely on it for application decisions.
Every paying business-account type — Employer, Union leader, School, and Business — gets routed to a separate support queue with a stricter SLA than the consumer Pro tier. Customers paying real money for the platform shouldn't wait days for an answer.
Concretely: priority email at support@rnpocketpal.com, faster first-response, and a single point-of-contact for the duration of your active subscription. Available now via email; live chat on the roadmap as the customer base grows.
Not in v1, but it's on the roadmap for early v1.x — likely 50% off the annual rate for verified nursing students with an active enrollment. For now, the $5/mo is roughly the cost of a coffee in a hospital cafeteria, and Free tier covers the lab reference + brain-sheet basics that most clinical-rotation students actually need.
Pro unlocks the full bank for NCLEX-RN, NCLEX-PN, CNA, CMSRN, CCRN, CEN, and 5 more cert exams. The bank lives on our server and refreshes every two weeks with new content — so the 50th time you open it, you're seeing fresh questions, not the same ones cycling.
Every question is paired with a rationale that explains both why the correct answer is correct AND why each distractor is wrong. Spaced-repetition review brings missed questions back at the right cadence; an AI "why I missed this" coach drills deeper when you ask. Educational study tool — not an exam pass-prediction.
The Free tier gets a daily 5-question sampler so you can see the format before paying.
Yes — Pro users can export work shifts directly to their iPhone's Apple Calendar. We use Apple's write-only calendar permission (introduced in iOS 17), so we can ADD shifts to the calendar you choose, but we can never read events that are already in your calendar.
Once exported, shifts sync to your iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch through your iCloud Calendar — wherever you're signed in to your Apple ID. The export is opt-in per shift OR bulk by date range.
Care Coins are an in-app reward currency you earn by using the app — completing trivia, hitting streaks, contributing to community suggestions. Per Apple's IAP rules, in-app currency can't be used to pay for the subscription directly.
What it can do, in future phases: unlock Promotional Offers (Apple-compliant subscription discounts) and unlock Marketplace item discounts, which are physical goods and live outside the IAP rules.
No plans to. $5/mo is the price we want to ship with and the price we want to keep. If we ever raise it, Apple's policy guarantees existing subscribers stay at their original rate — that's not a promise we make, it's how iOS subscriptions work.
If we ever lower it (more likely), existing subscribers automatically get the lower rate at their next renewal.
Yes — every iOS subscription pays Apple's commission. 30% in year one, 15% in year two and beyond per Apple's small-business program. We priced $5/mo with that math already baked in. There's no out-of-app billing route to dodge it on iOS.
